Takshak Release 1.0.8 pushed

@trackwhackTakshak Staff5 Oct 2026

If you run Rotary Parallel or certify rotary finishing, read this first. 1.0.5 to 1.0.7 had two collision faults, both fixed in 1.0.8.

Rotary Parallel could gouge near the rotary axis on a part whose cross-section does not contain the axis: on one real part the ball went up to 2 mm into the part close to the axis. Regenerate Rotary Parallel toolpaths on such parts before you run them again.
A tool body wider than 4 mm (a D6 shank, a tapered cone, a stepped shank) leaning past the part's outer faces was not checked against the part, neither by Geodesic Finish's lean nor by Certify Toolpath on Geodesic Finish and Contour. Both check it now, and Certify reads the holder over its whole surface. A Geodesic Finish or Contour toolpath that certified clean on an earlier version may now show a reading: certify it again before you run it.
New
Pick the work origin off the model (3-axis): Setup's "Pick on: Stock box | Model" sets the WCS origin from a corner, an edge, a bore or boss axis or a flat face of a STEP or DXF part.
Slot / Groove: the tool follows each picked slot's floor at its own depth. Slots with a curved floor get their own SLOTS row in AFR.
Bead / Cove: a ball end mill rides a picked bead or cove.
Rotary Parallel cuts past the rotary centre: a surface that faces the axis is now reached by bringing the tool down its radial line past the centre, as a second pass that keeps your chosen cut direction. Parts with nothing there post as before.
Adaptive Clear, Order: Bottom up takes the bulk out at full depth first, then the shelves above it.
Levels on Adaptive Clear and 3D Pocket Clearing: Stepdown + flat floors (as before) or Fixed stepdown, which steps over flat floors and says how much stock it leaves.
Ramp angle on every helical entry, from the tool's new Max ramp angle unless you set one.
Chamfer a flat face: pick a face with no modelled chamfer and every sharp edge round it is broken at 45°.
Engrave takes every chain you pick in one operation and lists them all.
Rescale scales the STEP or DXF shape with the part, is saved with the project, and scales each axis on its own for mesh parts.
Preferences: the playback DRO's text size.
Faster
Rotary Parallel with a tapered ball is many times faster: a job that projected about four and a half hours now runs in about fifteen minutes, with the same toolpath.
Fixes
Cancel lands within seconds on Rotary Parallel, and the button counts the seconds while it stops. Importing a model, opening or closing a project, or removing the part stops a running generation, and nothing it returns lands on the new model.
Pocket: every re-entry follows the entry mode you chose, and no rib is left round an island.
Layout: Adaptive Clear and 3D Pocket Clear stop short of the other copies and parts instead of cutting into them; a new one starts with Cut boundary = BBox when the stock has side offsets, so the offsets are cleared too.
Chamfer checks the whole pass against the part and lifts over what stands beside it; an open edge's ends stop short of the part.
Picking: a second click un-picks; picks stay lit; an operation's picked faces show as an outline once it has a toolpath.
AFR lists only what it detected; a fillet reads as a blend.
The playback DRO reads the program as posted, between layout copies too, and ignores an origin that was moved but not confirmed.
Engrave: Calculate before Done no longer crashes.
Tool Library: the buttons sit in two rows, none clipped.
Linux AppImage: Help → User Manual and every operation's help link open in Ubuntu's Firefox and other snap or Flatpak browsers. The manual is copied to your Downloads folder and opened from there.
Linux: the terminal shows warnings and errors only; the full log stays in the log file.
